From its early beginnings in the 1970's as a national Advisory Committee with its main purpose being to oversee the continuation of the "Canadian Inter-Provincial Championships" from year to year, ScotDance Canada evolved and in the ensuing years has developed into the national governing body for Highland Dancing in Canada. An Affiliated Member of the Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing, it fully supports the rules and regulations of the Board and acts as the Board's Registration Agent in Canada and its main point of contact for all matters related to Highland Dancing in Canada. ScotDance Canada (or 'SDC' as it is often referred to) brings together under one umbrella all Canadian teachers, judges, dancers and competition organizers. Becoming incorporated in 1994, SDC is a not-for-profit, charitable organization. Our thanks for this note to Donna Jean Ostrander, SDC Historian.
